regulations effective May 23, 2007 as outlined in the Federal
Regulation, (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act of 1996 (HIPAA)) which requires practices to share their NPI
with other providers, health plans, clearinghouses, and any
entity that may need it for billing purposes. WinMedStat
includes National Provider Identifier on both electronic
claims and the new CMS -1500 HCFA paper claim form.
